But Who…?

Jesus met with the eleven disciples on the mountain, and He said, “Go and make disciples…”  And the eleven started volunteering:

“I’ll provide great music for them so they can worship the Lord.”

“I’ll cook food for their fellowship dinners.”

“I’ll clean the building so they’ll have a comfortable place to meet each week.”

“I’ll advertise and put up signs so they will come to us.”

“I’ll greet them when they come in the door.”

“I’ll prepare a bulletin for them so they know what’s going on.”

“I’ll mow the lawn so the place looks nice.”

“I’ll handle the money they give and be sure the bills are paid.”

“I’ll provide counseling when they run into problems.”

“I’ll give money so others can go do the work.”

“I’ll pray for the workers.”

BUT WHO IS GOING TO MAKE DISCIPLES?

Who will…
…go to them to meet them where they are?
…proclaim the good news freely, showing them how to be saved?
…walk alongside them from the day of conversion, just as Jesus walked with His disciples?
…keep them accountable to Jesus, cheering them on when they obey Him?
…help them develop confidence to share their faith boldly?
…pray for them and with them, and teach them how to pray?
…show them to know the Father’s heart and a vision for reaching the world?
…protect them from temptations, false teachings, and worldly voices?
…answer their questions and encourage them to press on when they begin to have doubts?
…teach them how to multiply themselves, giving birth to multiple generations of believers?

The Great Commission is the responsibility and privilege of every believer.  Every disciple needs to be a disciple maker.
This is what Jesus had in mind when He said, “Go and make disciples…”  Nothing less will do.
