July-August Update

Greetings once again!  Much has happened since I last wrote 2 months ago, and now that I am back from my trip to the USA, I will bring you up to date with what God has been doing in our midst.

I had mentioned before that 10 people give their lives to Jesus at a camp which Aris organized in early July.  In the wake of this camp, we learned that a lady named K. opened her home to host a new outreach group which has been meeting weekly.

In mid-July the new aimtrainers.org website was launched.  Many thanks to Johann Dyck and Marc Hooks for their tireless hours in preparing the site, graphics, and videos!  We hope this site will foster better communication among the workers and leaders in our network.

Judy & I attended a huge conference in Greece where I was able to train 35 Euro missionaries in the fine art of reproducing disciples.  We pray that this will open doors where we can continue equipping and encouraging them to multiply disciples.

While I was in the States I had the privilege of leading my 16-year-old grand-niece to the Lord.  I began training her and her mother in TFT and will continue to do so via phone.  After I taught my niece the Left Hand Witness method, she immediately shared the gospel with her husband who showed great interest and had many questions!

In an outreach group in Hobart, Sudanese teenagers Cornelio and Alba made decisions to follow Jesus and have become students at Seabrook Christian School.  Jared (principal at Seabrook) and Gideon (a student we trained) are presently training a dozen high school students using TFT, so these new disciples are getting well-grounded in Christ.

Erik reports that he trained 13 people using Reboot over the past 2 months.  He also traveled to South Australia to meet with a man which he led to Jesus over the phone in June.  He and Natalie made significant inroads with several leaders of a local church there and will consider how they can train and mobilize these people.

Josephine shared that the TFT group in Tacloban (Philippines) is progressing well and that they have started a new group.  Filipinos here in Tasmania are growing stronger in sharing the gospel message.  One of their outreach groups which Josephine started several months ago, Mabuhay Christ Homes, has become part of the Baptist 2020 network.

Nepalese believers continue to grow in their faith and passion.  Having completed TFT, they are now using SOS to study the Gospel of Mark.  Paul went to Nepal in June to get married, but while he was there, he trained 2 other men who are now training others.  The Nepalese here in Hobart will be starting a new group this coming weekend, their first new “plant.”

What excites me most is that the majority of what is happening is being done by people we have trained–that is, God is at work in the second, third, and fourth spiritual generations.

Nothing happens quickly at first, but if you stay with the task of training and don’t give up, you will see much fruit in due time.  Someone once said that the best time to plant a tree is twenty years ago, and the second best time is right now.  So if you aren’t training disciples, don’t delay any longer!
