It’s been a long time since I have written an “AIM Trainers Update” and I apologise for the long silence. My ambition this year was to write on a regular basis but to date this has not happened. Having set up this blog site nearly a year ago, I am finally getting around to using it.
The Christmas/summer holidays in Tasmania took their toll on several groups here. Distressing to say the least! Most of those that failed were not following the AIM format or had taken emphasis off one or more key elements necessary to help groups multiply. One of the most common mistakes groups make is not to practice. When they don’t take time to practice, they tend not to set ‘fishing’ goals–and consequently they stop fishing. Another is to fail to cast a clear vision of how God wants to impact lostness, and without this a group will become inward-focused very quickly.
On a positive note, we observe many new groups which have started since Christmas:
- Rene & Orpha started a second-generation TFT group in Glenorchy.
- Gideon (age 17) started training disciples using TFT at a local Christian school in Geilston Bay, Tasmania.
- This week we started a new TFT group in Taroona, Tasmania.
- Fred has started two “Field 2″ outreach groups in Glenorchy.
- Josh & Jessie have started a group in their home in Melbourne with the intention of starting a “church within their church” by training disciples how to multiply.
- Aris has started two new Reboot groups in Western Sydney targeting the Filipino community.
- Erik & Natalie have started another group in Launceston to equip Congolese disciples to multiply.
- Two new groups in Hialeah, Florida which are using Reboot. One is led by 20-year old Josue who is proving to be a very capable trainer.
- Another new TFT group in Tacloban, Philippines.
In mid-April I will be travelling with my colleague Andy Arnette to New Zealand where we will be casting a vision to a group of pastors, and we plan to conduct a training weekend as well. On my recent trip to Adelaide I was able to find several more Congolese refugees who wish to be trained, and I plan to train them in May.
Please pray that God will continue to do amazing things among those we are training, and that they will start new, reproducing streams of faithful disciples.
