Happy Anniversary

Today marks a very special day in our history.  Five years ago, we conducted our very first Reboot disciple training group.

Within weeks of learning about the Training for Trainers method in 2006, I began to use it here in Australia to train some local partners.  But we quickly determined that in order to bring established believers to a greater understanding of God’s purpose and plan, we western believers would have to do a lot of ‘unlearning’ first.  We found the book of Acts to be the perfect textbook for this, as it spells out in vivid detail what the followers of Jesus did once He left the scene.  The result was Reboot, a re-write of the T4T model to help people in secular cultures get a fresh start in the mission task.

Our first Reboot group was held in Claremont, Tasmania on 9 May 2007 with just three participants.  We started our next group on 29 May and a third group in July.  In August I attended a strategy forum in Japan and shared how Reboot was working for us, and some colleagues approached me about using it in Japan.  Reboot was translated into Japanese and used in a number of places, and the documentation can be found on http://www.jesus-follower.org.  Since that time dozens of Reboot groups have gathered to train disciples, and we pray that God will continue to use tools like this to mobilize the body of Christ to do His Kingdom work.
